Define your Bussines strategy: Don’t Kill Your Business
This is the first thing that you need to do before you start any type of business, but, be sure that this is especially true for F&B (food and beverage).
You may ask why?” What is different about this industry?
The answer is in the introduction – This is a heavily people-based industry; you need to know your target audience.
Let me explain it this way: You need to find your niche. So, the first step in a good business plan is to determine the type of business.
Are you going to open a restaurant, a coffee shop, a Tea house, or even a cigar bar? This is the most important thing to do as the type of your business will affect your target audience. You Need To Choose The Style Of Your Business.
If you decide to open up a restaurant, you need to know its style; if you try to attract everyone, You Are Going To Kill Your Business.
So, is it going to be an Italian cuisine restaurant, a French cuisine restaurant, or a restaurant with domestic cuisine? You just need to know the target audience and the style.
Find a perfect location: Key To A Business’s Longevity
A perfect location is key to a business’s longevity. Your location must be in the desired area of the city.
There are small examples where this isn’t the case, but most of the time, locations do matter. The exception to this “rule” are the places that are located outside of the town, and this is a perfect example of my previous sentence. Their target audience is people who are looking to go outside of town to relax.
When looking for a location, you need to think about three things:
1. The cost
2. The competition
3. How far away are you from the city center?
The cost mainly refers to rent, and the question you need to ask is: Can the business be sustained with this rent? Next, you need to know your competition and figure out what differentiates you from them. You need to attract new guests.
The last one refers to your precise location. This will in some way define your pricing, as you are going to base your prices according to your competition, which is in the center.
The general rule is that the center is the most expensive, and as you go further away, the prices drop accordingly. It is important to note that this is not always the case.
Create a Brand: Put in Time and Effort
This is the thing that separates you from everyone else. Having a strong brand is crucial for future business development.
The brand is not made overnight, so you need to put in the time, effort, and dedication to grow your business from scratch.
If you do everything right, with time, people are going to start to recognize your brand, and you are going to start seeing more people come.
There is one more way to have a strong brand, and that is to use the existing one.
I don’t know if you knew, but you can buy the right to use a brand.
This is a franchise; you buy the right to open up a shop under some famous brand name. For example, you can open up a buble tea franchise.
This is going to put you on the map of the city instantly, and it is going to increase your total revenue.
Recruit the Right Staff
If you want a professional business, you need to have professional employees. You need this information if you are planning to buy the rights to a brand and become a franchisee.
They often come with standards that need to be followed. Even the smallest mistakes add up, and if you are not careful, you can lose the right to use a brand name. This is a simple yet effective strategy that prevents people from destroying well-known and functioning brands. So, hiring the right staff for your business is essential, and you should scan the market properly to make sure that you find the best people for the positions that you require.
