One of the most popular breed choices is also one of the most unusual, and that has to be the Dachshund.

These cute dogs are known for their long bodies, small limbs, and tough personalities.

Owning one of these puppies is a real joy, and learning to draw a dachshund is a great way to celebrate this adorable breed! If you love these cute dogs, then this is a tutorial to be noticed to Draw A Dachshund.

How to Draw A Dachshund

Step 1

For the first step of this guide to drawing a dachshund, we’ll focus on the dog’s head and muzzle.

Dachshunds have a distinctive look, including a long, thin muzzle and large ears hanging around their faces.

You can start by drawing a large rounded shape for the ear on the left. Next, use curved lines connecting the top of the head to Draw A Dachshund.

This will then extend into a long line for the muzzle.

At the end of this muzzle, we draw a relatively large nose. To complete this step, draw a long, smiling mouth that extends to the left under the nose.

That’s all for this step, so you can move on to step 2 to Draw A Dachshund!

Step 2

In this second phase of drawing your Dachshund, you will add details for the chest, back, and first paw. First, develop a slightly curved stripe from the base of the head.

There will then be a short paw descending from the one with small curved fingers at the base. Next, draw a smaller curved line for the chest near that leg.

Next, we draw the beginning of Dachshund’s back. This is a small curved line coming down from the base of the back of the head.

Once those details are settled, let’s move on to Step 3 of this guide to Draw A Dachshund.

Step 3

In this third part of our tutorial on drawing a dachshund, we will add the other front paw and more body parts.

Let’s start with this leg first. This one will stand next to the first one and look very similar to the first one. Next, we’ll add some curved lines for the back and abdomen of the body.

The back line is slightly straighter than the belly line, as the belly line curves inwards towards the end to Draw A Dachshund.

Step 4

In this fourth step, you will now draw the hind legs of this Dachshund. The hind legs look quite similar to the front legs but are slightly longer than the front legs.

The hind legs are also spread further, and this positioning helps give this adorable Dachshund a more confident look!

Once you’re drawn those back legs, you can add some final details and elements to the guide’s next step to Draw A Dachshund.

Step 5

You can now add the final details of this image in this fifth step of our how-to draw a dachshund guide. First, we outline the second eye on the left.

You can then add some small circular shapes in each eye for pupils. Next, add curved eyebrows above the eyes and a curved line around the mouth.

Finally, add a curved tail on the Dachshund’s back that extends straight up. Once you’ve added those details, you’re ready to finish with the finishing touches!

Drawing a background would be an idea of how to finish it, and if you had to, what kind of setting would you choose for this adorable Dachshund to Draw A Dachshund.

Step 6

This breed of dog has a beautiful color scheme of alternating dark and light brown tones, and that’s the approach we took with this Dachshund drawing.

You can use our example as a coloring template when coloring your representation to achieve a realistic look for your Dachshund.

When you color an image, part of the fun is choosing the artistic mediums you use to make your color choices.

You can opt for some painterly or lighter mediums like colored pencils depending on the mood you want the image to have to Draw A Dachshund.
